Freed from traditional handheld constraints, Nex Playground takes on a character-like form—bold colors, a winking “eye” formed by the front-facing camera and LED, and a playful monocle-style cover that ensures privacy. The design balances energy with approachability, fitting naturally into any family space. Venting becomes a visual language, while the nostalgic, geometric form nods to classics like Tetris and Rubik’s Cubes. A weighted remote with an integrated joystick gamifies the UI, crafted to stay put and feel just right in any hand.
We collaborated from first sketch to factory line, helping bridge engineering and manufacturing. level brought in a trusted engineering partner to support DFM and problem-solving. Alongside Nex’s CM, we traveled to China twice to fine-tune venting, camera placement, and the detachable foot. We obsessively color-matched every part and refined surface finishes to ensure a seamless, premium experience. The result? Over 200,000 units sold since launch at Target, Best Buy, and beyond—proof that great design can redefine family play.
